Agreement provides greater access to destinations in Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore
Bangkok, Thailand – Bangkok Airways (PG) and Finnair (AY) recently signed a code-share agreement for services to Thailand’s key destinations, as well as to Hong Kong and Singapore. The service began on 15 January 2012.
Under the deal, the Helsinki-based airline will place its two-letter ‘AY’ code on Bangkok Airways’ flights between Bangkok-Samui, Bangkok-Phuket, Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Singapore-Samui and Hong Kong-Samui. The move is part of Bangkok Airways’ plan to further expand its codeshare partnership policy.
“Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and Phuket are regarded as our favorite destinations for visitors worldwide, whilst Hong Kong and Singapore offer another unique aspect of Asia,” said Captain Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways. “By this co-operation, Finnair will be the only European carrier that allows stop-over in Asia’s famous ports, namely Hong Kong and Singapore, before visiting Thailand. We strongly believe this new cooperation will be very successful.”
“This new codeshare arrangement will make the paradise island Koh Samui even easier reach for Finnair passengers,” said Hannu Sundberg, Vice President for Airline Partnerships at Finnair. “The daily nonstop services from Helsinki to Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong each connect with Bangkok Airways services to Koh Samui. The exotic experience at Koh Samui starts already at the unique airport and continues throughout the stay. Chiang Mai and the Northern part of Thailand is gaining popularity among European travelers and it is now well connected with Finnair's double daily Bangkok services. This new partnership will open new possibilities to our passengers to visit Thailand and combine it with other destinations in Asia for added experience.”
Flights will be operated according to the following schedule*:
